7,000 Point Create Your Own OC Contest (OPEN)OC: Dr. Alberto Flores
August 23rd, 2017- hundreds of millions around the world were drawn from their houses to stare up at the sky. Soon, like a plague unchecked it snapped their minds like twisted metal. Chaos erupted in the streets as men, women, and children turned psychotic, screaming about something they call the "White Sky."You and your party were making your way south, following rumors of food, medicine, weapons, even clean water, all near the southernmost point of Argentina. Passing through South America, everything is so dark and quiet. Rows of abandoned houses dot the landscape. But they're not abandoned. Someone suggests your party take shelter. You know better, but you are too kind to leave certian people to their stupidity. As the person is about to open the door a hand grabs them. Suddenly the streets are flooded with light. People emerge from the houses, everyone walking slowly, staring. You don't scream or cry out, you just run. A handful of your party does the same.
Deep in the jungle, you can finally rest. Except one party member has a massive cut on his side. In the light of the oil lamp, it looks more like a tear or a bite. Either way, he's going to bleed to death if you can't craft a bandage from what little supplies you have.
Suddenly you hear a bird. Then footsteps. A man appears. He's not holding a lantern or any source of light. As he blinks his eyes, the strange gold color sparkles under the light of the moon. It's more than a little creepy. Several members of your party draw their weapons.
So he stops and drops to his knees. From his pack, he removes a rock and proceeds to start a fire. Your party is getting worried: a fire will draw unwanted attention. He pulls out a blade and heats it in the fire, before approaching the injured member of your party. Everyone has their weapons drawn but the mysterious man only smiles. He places a finger to his lips in the "shh" motion. It's enough to keep the injured man from screaming as the wound is cauterized.
When he is done, the man switches from the blade to a bandage made of some kind of leaves. That is when another member of your party thinks it wise to attack. But the attacker does not even reach his target before getting the hot medical blade thrown into his shoulder like a dart.
The medic stands up, having finished his task. He shoves the attacker and retrieves the blade from his shoulder. "You'll live," he mutters as he puts his blade away. The strange medic then looks to your party. "Water?"
You step forward. "Do you need water?"
The man shakes his head. He motions to his duffle bag. "Water."
You look at his large blue duffle bag. "Dr. Alberto Flores?" you say out loud, reading from the hand-written label on the side. "Is that your name?"
"Water," he repeats.
So you open the bag, inside are chunks of ice contained in plastic. "Is this glacier ice? Are we close to the glaciers?"
He shook his head. "Far."
You help yourself to one of the gallon-sized bags. "Water- for us?"
The man nods. "For you."
"Put it back!" shouts another member of your party. "He probably drugged it, you don't know what these freaks are capable of!"
"Back off!" you shout. Even if Dr. Flores is a monster, he's a monster who just saved your teammate.
Dr. Flores nods briefly as he turns away. "I live for my family. I live for peace."
